Antonio Cosío Pando grew up in Mexico, in a family dedicated to large-scale investment, winemaking, and industrial businesses. This awakened true passions in him since early childhood, a time in which he dreamt of being part of this when he grew up, leading him to obtain his university degree in textile engineering. But fate led him down a much more ambitious and challenging path: the hospitality industry.

“When the Mexican banking system was nationalized, Banamex bank, owner at the time of Real Turismo which included Calinda, and Hoteles Camino Real, decides to buy our shares by offering a partnership in the company. We later kept ownership of Las Brisas Acapulco and Ixtapa, Hacienda Jurica (in Queretaro), Galería Plaza hotel (in Mexico City) and the Calinda hotel chain, later sold to Grupo Carso”, explains Cosío Pando, current CEO of Grupo Brisas.

This is how we went from making towels, sweets and chocolates to the world of tourism, and although I always liked the ‘machines‘ and fabrics, it was the hotels that ended up having more impact on my life. Today I continue working with total dedication (as my grandparents Moisés and Elías taught me; my father, founder of Grupo Brisas, Antonio Cosío Ariño, and my mother, Monchita Pando) in order to leave my family -which is my greatest inspiration- a good legacy and the company at the top of its game.

BUSINESS PROJECTIONS
Las Brisas in Acapulco, has always been the flagship hotel and recently celebrated its 65th anniversary. This was the first hotel in the chain, and the one that gave its name to Grupo Brisas, a company that later added a series of well-established hotels, offering unique leisure experiences under the umbrella of three brands: Galería Plaza (business hotels), Las Brisas (beach hotels) and now NIZUC Resort & Spa (luxury hotels), which already opened its first hotel in Cancun, and will open its doors in Los Cabos in 2024.

“Currently, there are nine hotels with a total of 3,000 rooms, not including the 206 rooms of the newly opened Galería Plaza Monterrey and 150 more of the Galería Plaza León, which will open this 2023. More will be added with projects like the Santo Tomás vineyard in Ensenada, and two others in Mexico City, namely in Insurgentes and Fronton Mexico, which will have small rooms and will be a fun hotel; undoubtedly, we have a promising future, of great expansion. With all this, I am proud to say that we offer the highest level of accommodations in Mexico. ”
